Mossel Bay at a glance
Mossel Bay was officially proclaimed a town in 1848 and in 1852 it became a Municipality.
The municipal area now covers just over 2000 square kilometres, from Glentana all the way to Boggomsbaai. The actual town of Mossel Bay lies roughly 400 kms from both Cape Town and Port Elizabeth and is only 30 minutes from George Airport.
The town offers excellent health facilities as well as numerous retail shopping opportunities, restaurants, coffee shops and commercial businesses.
Tourism is alive and well all year round as Mossel Bay offers over 60 Kms of beach-front, around 300 days of sunshine per year, hosts a number of Blue Flag beaches and has one of the few (perhaps the only) north-facing beaches in South Africa.
Naturally for many local South Africans, Mossel Bay is the holiday destination of choice where they can participate in almost any form of leisure or sports activities such golf, shark cage diving, scuba diving, safe ocean swimming, whale watching, wine tasting and many others.
